My OBGYN ruled out birth control pills as effective after years of taking them. She suggested the depo shot or nexplanon arm implant as my next step. I opted for the shot because it seems less invasive than an implant. My question is, has anyone experienced weight gain on the depo shot for endometriosis? I saw one woman online say she gained 70 lbs on it which freaked me out. My OGBYN said it has the same risk of weight gain as birth control pills but I gained 15 lbs on slynd before I stopped. Iām already prone to weight fluctuations and trying to lose this 15 lbs.
I was on the Depo shot for 10 years. I had extreme pain and flow, it fixed all of that. I did multiple bone scans and no issue. I never gained weight. I eventually had an uneducated sexist male doctor force me off of it and I developed a large endometriosis mass in just over a year. I went to a specialist/gynaecologist who put me back on Depo as the first treatment to try to shrink the mass or stop it from growing.
