I'm 18 days post-surgery and I'm still struggling to sit up normally (desk chair, couch, etc.) for any length of time. My muscles start getting cranky pretty quickly and I need to lay down and recuperate afterwards. I delayed going back to work for a third week because I just didn't think I'd have the stamina to do a full eight hours a day (even with my wfh job).
Did anyone else experience this? I'm torn between 'am I doing enough to use the muscles so I don't make it worse' vs 'am I doing to much using the muscles which will make it worse.' I pushed myself way to much last week and I feel like it set me back multiple days including missing Thanksgiving :-/
I'm also still getting exhausted by short walks and light chores. I know everyone heals at a difference pace, but I keep reading about people who were 'fine' after 10 days - 2 weeks and I feel let down by my body. I'd like to stop using sick leave - I'm almost out! But I also know the additional stress from going back to work (physical and mental - it's a mentally demanding job) would probably set me back more and that I'm making the right choice for me right now.
I know there are tons of posts & responses about healing in general - would appreciate your comments on sitting in particular and using abdominals vs being gentle with them. Thanks!
