Establishing accurate testosterone baseline
Post Body

I recently received my first testosterone injection (testosterone cypionate - 200 mg). Almost immediately, I regretted getting the shot as I considered my concern that I was rushing the process without establishing a true baseline testosterone level.

This Thursday will be two weeks from my first injection, and I’m scheduled to receive the second. However, I’m wanted to pause that process and establish a proper baseline with two morning blood draws vs a single afternoon draw.

If I forego the second shot, how long should I wait before revisiting my testosterone levels to establish baseline. My initial thoughts are 45 days from the date of my first injection.

It’s frustrating, because I feel like my doctor’s sloppiness is resulting in delayed treatment. I just don’t feel comfortable making an important decision regarding TRT (which could be lifelong and has potential side effects) based on a single afternoon blood draw result.

I’m going to get a second opinion, perhaps from an endocrinologist vs urologist. I’d appreciate any thoughts you have regarding the best way to halt the newly initiated TRT and establish baseline with proper diagnostic protocol. Thanks!
