The transport company I worked for decided to close its doors last week. I found out from my fiance that there was a rumor going around saying it was closing Wed. the 23rd at 1700 sharp. I figured it was just BS because those rumors have been floating around for years so when I called for my start time for tuesday I asked if the rumor was true. Well my supervisor switched me to my boss and sure enough it was true. Apparently it was supposed to be a secret because he kept asking me whose facebook page I saw the rumor on and I kept telling him I only heard it as a rumor and that's it. So my last day was wednesday and had to go in at 0900 thursday for a meeting with a rep from the dept of labor to help us file for unemployment. I'm really upset with the fact that I had to find out like this instead of being told by other means. I also heard the reason why it was closing is because the co-owner's wife was filing for divorce and wanted half the company which my main boss didn't want to happen. So now here I am nearly broke and job searching having my fingers crossed for a miracle. And people wonder why I don't do favors for anyone anymore.
