So we were running calls a few weeks ago and during our regular bariatric dialysis transfer (they refuse to get on the bariatric stretcher so we squeeze him onto the regular stretcher with fat rolls pinned in between the rails a d the straps holding on for fear of dropping them AGAIN) the pt damn near broke our stretcher so we called OOS and asked for a detail to get a new stretcher or tuck since ours was going down at the end of the shift. We get told to run one more then they'll give us that detail. "No, we do not feel comfortable putting a patient on a stretcher that doesnt work properly" keep in mind that I was running BLS transfers all day, so theres no real rush. Our manager says that they will bring us a truck. "Cool, we'll grab some lunch and meet you at the hospital" que an amazing lunch with no interruptions. Then when the manager shows up with a truck, we start checking it off and making sure we have everything. Theres damn near nothing on this truck. We got a back up truck that doesnt get stocked after every use. We had like 3 NC a few non rebreathers, our drug box, and 2 full portables with an empty main. Well we get told our next pt wont have any specials. So our manager takes one of our full portables and leaves us with literally only a full portable to go 30 mins away. Guess what, our pt was on 3 liters/min and dessats fast. Well we cause a scene at the hospital cause we dont know if we can make it if we have to bump up the 02. I've spent 45 minutes at a facility trying to get an 02 concentrator for a pt before. I wasnt taking any chances and called ahead to the facility to try to get a concentrator there before we show up. Well we show up and have to wait 20 minutes for an 02 concentrator. We purged the portable not 30 seconds after it got in the room. After the call we get sent to our headquarters thinking it was a detail for gear. Nope write ups for not having 02 on the truck. The managers reasoning? We could've grabbed the main out of our other truck and put it in our new one. I'm sorry I dont keep a wrench with me at all times during my EMS job. I have more than one incident report on my flash drive of my manager being a dumb cunt. Since they brought them back they have done nothing but fuck shit up left and right. If this shit happens again I might be looking for another job in EMS. I'm not having my license taken away cause they dont want to do their job.
