I'm 19 and just starting my EMT-B course here in NYC. I'm really excited and look forward to my career, I just finished my first reading assignment (chapters 1-4) and I'm starting to better understand the lingo thrown around here.

Primarily I'd like to know what gear you guys use, boots are my main concern. I'm a big guy and I wear size 15, if anyone has any suggestions I'm game.

I'd also like to know if anyone else here took their test for the NY cert and how difficult the exam is.

Lastly I'd like to know if any of you have some advice for me as a rookie to the EMS field. I'm eager to learn anything that will help me progress on the road to becoming a paramedic.
