What is a gesture that you guys appreciate from a ride along/visitors?

I've been priorly acquainted with several of my local firedepartment's fire fighters and paramedics before starting own EMT-B course. So I bounce between doing ride alongs and saying hi every couple weeks. So I'm curious what are some do's/don'ts of being a ride along as well as what are some small gestures you guys appreciate I.e donuts, energy drinks, I've seen a lot of talk about pens here... Anyway thanks for your input!
