The war for Sheki was won. The Safavids had betrayed the Khanate and delivered the city to Kakheti on a golden platter but many of the Princes saw the price for such a gift to far outweigh the benefits. The price was steep, the Kingdom of Kakheti would recognise the Safavids as Suzerains over the Georgian Kingdom albeit with high amounts of autonomy. In order to placate the angry nobles, King Alex'sandre has sent a call for a Grand Council meeting so he can explain and help the Nobles understand why the deal was made.

At the capital city of Gremi, the Princes of Kakheti slowly arrived and made their way to the Royal Castle grumbling as they went, the discontent within the nobility was palpable. One by one they came to the council chambers all to find out why their King had sold them out to the Muslim Persians to the East. Once everyone had arrived King Alex'sandre brought the Council to order.

"Princes and Dukes of Kakheti, I welcome you to Gremi. I wish it was in other circumstances but alas it is not. I have heard murmurings that many of you are unhappy with my decision to accept the protection of the Safavid Empire."

He was interrupted by a young Prince, "Protection? You've accepted a foreign ruler over Georgia and fallen to your knees like a dog." As he said that his father smacked him over the back of the head.

King Alex'sandre looked at the young prince softly, "I appreciate your honest opinion. I have accepted a foreign ruler, this is true. I did not have a choice. You were not there at the discussions between I and the Shahanshah. We either accepted his protection or we would be destroyed."

He walked over to the young Prince, "Have you ever seen war boy? I have seen too much of it. I've seen Georgians killed in the streets, I've seen marauders and bandits take away families and enslave them, I've seen entire villages burnt to the ground. I made a choice that I had to do, this is why I'm King of Kakheti, by divine right and because no one else could make the choices I have to save our Kingdom from complete and utter destruction."

He looked at the Prince dead in the eyes before walking back to the centre of the room.

"Our Kingdom now is a Suzerainty of the Safavid Empire, this is not an ideal situation. However, with their support we are in the safest position we have been in years. With the might of the Safavid army we would be able to unite Georgia under one Kingdom again, no longer would the Pentarchy remain undivided."

King Alex'sandre clasped his hands behind his back and paced around the Council Chambers.

"The Shahanshah has promised complete autonomy to our Kingdom, all we have to do is pay tax and defend them in case of great emergency. This was unavoidable. I will not let my pride get in the way of the preservation of Kakheti. Neither should any of you. I do not wish to be under the Safavid Empire but I do not wish to see our Kingdom burn to the ground for the sake of fragile egotistical nobles!"

He faced all the nobles who sat quietly in front of him.

"You may either watch our Kingdom fall or you may join me in preserving our homes. This way we survive and our Kingdom will not fall. Georgia has been around for thousands of years, how long have the Safavids been here? We were here before them and we will be here after they go. We must think of our children, and their children, and their children after them."

The King looked at the nobles and waited for their response.
