[CLAIM] Principality of Orange

Post Body

Occupying a unique position in the south of France, the Princes of Orange had one foot in the affairs of France and another in the affairs of the HRE. Though they might claim independence from the French crown de jure, their position within the kingdom was undesirable. The Princes of Orange sought to slow the centralization of the crown of France, and while their claim to Brittany had been surrendered for a significant sum, these funds could now be used to further their ambitions elsewhere. The current prince, John of Chalon, is a veteran of the intrigues of French politics, and currently holds the title of lieutenant-general of Brittany.
