November, 1501
The reports of the battle between the Borgias and the Florentine coalition had arrived. The Florentines had, if the reports were true, bested the Borgia armies at the walls of Bologna. Pandolfo couldn't say he could rouse himself to great pity for the Borgia. If the states of Italy desired one thing, it was the status quo. Anyone whose ambitions grew beyond his borders would soon find his aggression repaid by his neighbors. Still, the armies of a victorious Florence would have but one target if the Borgias were defeated: Pisa. The window to act and ensure that the Florentines did not reestablish control over Pisa was closing. Re-enforcing Pisa would have to be done now.
