The Kingdom of Georgia is dead. War, internal conflict, Persians and Turks all came together and initiated the destruction of Tamara's great Kingdom.

From the ashes rose many small kingdoms, yet in the old royal capital at Tbilisi sits Constantine II, King of Kartli and one of the three men who claim to be rightful King of Georgia. Son of Prince Demetrius, co-King of Georgia with George VIII (Last true King of Georgia), Constantine is now 53 years old, and has dreamed of Georgia since his coronation in Tbilisi 22 years ago. He has waged wars with his cousins to the south and west (The Kings of Imereti and Kakheti), and briefly controlled a united Georgia, only to be undone by rebellion and betrayal. His fears of the Muslims to both his east (Persians) and west (Turks) led him to send letters across the Christian world, only to be rebuffed by all he beseeches.

Constantine is worn down, his capital, the once shining city of Tbilisi has been the site of many great battles in the course of his reign. Yet still it stands, the last great reminder of a fading dream. One might be forgiven for forgetting that once Tbilisi was the center of all commerce in the Caucasus and one of the great hubs for all transit from the Orient to the Occident. The city still generates much wealth, but it has been greatly reduced since the golden years of Queen Tamara's reign.

The House of Bagrationi, the oldest continuing ruling house in all the known world, stands on the precipice of destruction. Constantine's sons (David, George, and Melchizedek) all wait patiently for their aging father's passage into God's Kingdom.
