Groups 1 and 2 of the Imperial Army have arrived at Calicut, meeting no resistance.
The besieging army is 40,000/8,000/8,000. They are supplied by a supply running from Coimbatore city, along the Bharat river to the coast and towards Calicut. They will draw water from the river running into the ocean near Calicut.
As the army has met no resistance and the Portuguese will be nowhere to be found in Calicut (they left via sea), the Vijayanagara commanders are left to assume there might be a trap set up. The army sets up camp north-west-west of Calicut, with the river protecting their south. Small patrols are sent out to keep an eye on crossing points and a larger amount will create a patrolling perimeter in the north-west, north, north-east and east (totalling 5,000 patrolling cavalrymen)
A surrender notice shall be sent to the city as the sieging force realizes there's no proper defenders.
"To the people of Calicut,
the conquerors have abandoned your city in the face of obliteration. You have nothing to gain from holding out. The magnificent Maharaja of Vijayanagar offers you peace without the shedding of blood. The city of Calicut will be restored under its rightful ruler, the Raja of Malabar, now a vassal under the Maharaja Narasimha Raya. No harm shall come to the natives inside and no revenge shall be enacted on those that interacted with the conquerors."
