Within the Kingdom of France there has been a major consolidation of power among the high nobility. Valois has been a prime example of this consolidation with their holdings established in Savoy and France. The main branch of House Bourbon has also been able to consolidate their holdings, though at this point, the junior branch Bourbon-Vendome, has already seen the head of the family become a King consort, with their heir set to be the first true Bourbon King.
It is to King Charles V's understanding and proclamation that Prince Henri, Principe de Viana, will be the sole heir to all the holdings of the family. This includes Vendome, Albret, Perigord, and Navarre. This does mean that the other two princes will need to forge a path in life for themselves, similar to how Charles V's brothers and uncle have been required to chart a path forward for their lives. Francis already has accumulated a large amount of prestige at court with his liberation of Calais and his negotiations with Sweden on behalf of France. While there may be a desire for him to be landed in Sweden, it seems more likely for him to receive a peerage in France of in Italy. Regardless, Francis hopes to gain significant military and diplomatic experience while in Sweden.
Separately, Jacques de Bourbon, the half-brother of Charles V, managed to establish himeslf in Norway, marrying himself to one of the noble families of Norway. Establishing a new branch called House Bourbon-Gyldenløve, the goal is to establish a Bourbon presence in Scandinavia. However, after the birth of their first child, Harald, it seems that Lady Lucie has become mentally very against having children, which has caused a degree of problems between Jacques and his new wife. With him coming into peerage with the marriage, he needs an heir to keep his newfound legacy alive, but obviously there is a problem if his wife will not help him cement his legacy.
Unlike Jacques, but in a similar position of needing to establish himself, Louis de Bourbon, Prince of La Roche-sur-Yon has been able to sire several kids, and has also managed to become Count Jure Uroxis of Nuechatel. With his son Francis set to become the next Count of Nuechatel, there has been discussions about renaming the Prince to Bourbon-Nuechatel. However, despite being a Count Jure Uroxis, the desire to prove himself in battle burns passionately for the Prince. Unlike the German nobles, French ones fight with their soldiers and Louis hopes that his sons Francis and Laurent take after him in this passion.
With the establishment of a string of new defenses for Navarre, the new palace for the Royal Family of Navarre must be created. While exiled from their holdings in Spain, a new residence will be established in Saint-Palais. While Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port was heavily considered, it was deemed to be too suspectable to Spanish attack, and too close to the border. The new royal residence will be called Vendome Palace after King Charles V who is also the Duke of Vendome, and he will be footing the bill with an initial investment of 200k (civ) put into the residence. Vendome Palace will be the home of the royal family and the administrative headquarters for the Monarch of Navarre.
