The New World is a bountiful land of riches and exotic resources awaiting European markets' stores. However, despite our monopoly of the New World resource trade, to help the colonies become profitable, we must extend a consumer base for these resources beyond the domestic Iberian market. One such resource becoming of extensive interest is Tobacco, a brown crop that if processed can be made into cigars and ground down to smoke with pipes. This crop found enormous demand among the colonists in the New World and even made it into King Ferdinand's court, whose contact with the plant gave him the resolve to spread the tobacco trade far and wide.
An important market nexus we must expand to is Italy, Should tobacco be exported to the rich lands of Northern Italy, they will pay top dollar for these resources. The death of Cesare Borgia and his disgrace gave us reason to invalidate the tobacco contract tied to the Borgia family, instead, the exclusivity towards the tobacco trade in Northern Italy will be granted to Florence instead.
