To his most esteemed Factor Francisco Pinelo of the Casa de contratacion
The previous meeting between Sebastian de Ocampo and the cacique Kiptoteke went along swimmingly despite our early poor relations. The natives around this region are hospitable enough to trade amongst ourselves in peace. The goods they share with us are quite exotic, some I have never seen before, one crop of particular interest to me is this brownish leaf the locals call "Tabaco". I cultivated a positive relationship with the cacique Kiptoteke enough that he offered to share some of his "Tabaco" with him, I must say that the experience was remarkable, to say the least. With our small town being left to our own devices, I decided besides commissioning plantations of "Maiz" and other exotic crops fit for our consumption, to build a plantation for "Tabaco" I believe that this crop presents an enormous business opportunity if exported back to Europe. The men seem to enjoy the consumption of "Tabaco" enough so that it is quite regular for some of my men to go to the nearby villages asking for more leaves. I hope the locals do not mind as much.
Right, so, I will require additional resources and settlers to expand the colony further, the area around us has nice weather despite the lackluster terrain. We may probably have to move to a more suitable location for the construction of larger buildings and more permanent infrastructure. I will require reinforcements in order to further our influence around the bay and meet other villages to gain more tributaries. I hope I can count on Kiptoteke to ensure the settlement is healthy, I promised him I would defend his land from raids of other rival caciques and thus I believe this cooperation can lend us fruits in the future. Once my reinforcements arrive, we will begin expeditions further inland and expand the colony. I will take my subordinates, divided into three contingents to explore the surrounding area to have a better grasp of the geography of the bay.

Best of luck and may God bless us in our mission
