JANUARY, 1503 - Year of the Black Water Pig

As the wars raged in Italia, Bologna grew closer and closer to being on the frontlines of the bloody conflict. Already thousands of Bolognese soldiers were deployed ready to defend their homes, but Giovanni II deliberated with the Senate and came to the conclusion that it was not enough to properly protect Bologna. From this conclusion, Giovanni utilised his connections as a past-condottieri and brought in veterans from across the Bolognese region as well as some rather uncouth and swarthy Sicilians.

The veterans recruited were given the company name of "The Campagnia di San Gennaro", the Company of Saint Januarius. Now, with the approval of the Bolognese Senate and the stamp of approval from Giovanni the company begun to accumulate weapons, armor, supplies, and whatever else was needed to ensure the smooth transition to the frontlines.
