Sometime in January, 1500

From the assembled consuls, landholders, and peoples of the Land Wursten;

The Black Guard, hired by Magnus Ascania of Saxe-Launberg, son of John V Ascania, Duke of Saxe-Launberg, has trampled upon the free Frisians and imposed on them tyranny unbefitting of our Freedoms. They have been promptly routed and removed from our land. To settle this dispute, we do demand:

• A formal apology
• A recognition of our Frisian freedoms
• The full cost of burials, replacement of goods, and good tidings to show no evil duplicity, the cost of which should be determined by the good Archbishop of Bremen, Johann Rode von Wale, as an impartial judge of these matters
• Thirty heads of cattle, with three fattened calves set aside as gift and tithe to Johann Rode von Wale

Should these things be done, we will consider the matter settled regarding the Battle of Weddewarden and other similar incursions experienced in the past year. No formal charges will be made, nor grudge held.
