There is nothing more that I want then to become a nurse. Even though I have emetophobia, I signed up for nursing school anyway because I’m confidant I can get over it. However I’m getting a little discouraged because I can’t bring myself to watch videos of people vomiting.
I used to be just as terrified of seeing dogs vomit as I was humans. But I have 100% gotten over seeing dogs throw up. I’ve been grooming for 8 years now and it doesn’t phase me at all anymore, and I think that shows I can get over it.
Humans are a different beast though. I wish I had someone that would watch the videos first and tell me what to expect before I watch them because projectile vomiting is what scares me most. If someone could watch and only show me videos of less violent vomiting and slowly build up from there, I think it would work!! Or start with babies because their throwing up scares me less than adult for whatever reason.
If anyone has any tips I’d be so grateful! I’m going to be starting as a CNA in 6 months at the hospital and I really need to get over my fear before then!
