Hello community!
I am a medical student looking to apply to EM for residency this upcoming match cycle. In preparation I’ve asked myself what makes a good EM physician and how can I monitor myself. So I’m coming here to get some input from EM Attending’s, EM directors, and EM residents about what patient metrics are worth tracking (ie: % RSI on 1st attempt, door-balloon time, etc). I plan on using excel or writing a script in python to handle all my data, unless there is already some platform that offers this service.
Another subject I’m interested in developing is good charting habits. And not just for billing purposes but more for creating a note that provides the medicine/surgery team with useful bottom line information.
Also I am always on the hunt for resources that are great for self directed learning. At the moment I’m reading Rosen’s EM for some fundamentals.
This has been a great community to follow over the years and now that I am closer to being a part of really appreciate your input and pro tips!
