STM32L432KC troubles with sending accelerometer data through USART to putty

Hey all,
I am using the stm32cubeIDE and have setup the I2C1 pins, the SPI1 PINS, and the USART2 (debugger) pins.
I wrote code for the LIS3DH accelerometer and wanted to test it. However, when I tried to test it by sending data through the debugger to putty it doesn't work. I am using sprintf().
When I run my code the debugger shuts down when I want it to send data to putty.
Does anybody have any tips or ways to solve the debugger issue?
