I’ve been thinking a lot about it ever since I watched the show the first time. At the end you see them going back to the precinct after Joan got the all clear from her doctor she can continue working.

What I always thought is that they went back to working with the police. Sherlock and Joan also continue to do cases on the side. Joan maybe made another book. And was thinking that they could have a couple apprentices.

And I also thought that Joan and Sherlock might have ended up together romantically. Like they were close for years and when she got sick I think it could have made Sherlock realize he loves Joan.
