As a followup to my previous post:
I decided to take a known good 22uF 50V electrolytic cap, KMA branded 105'C rated, and run it with reverse voltage from my bench supply. Current limited to 20mA and I upped the voltage slowly until the limit hit. I then shorted the cap to discharge it (mostly) and tested it with DC volts on my meter. It showed a voltage of around -500mV after 5 mins of shorting. I then tested it again with the ESR meter.
Results before reverse-polarity volting:
- 23.15uF on the LCR
- 1.14R on the ESR (in-spec)
Results after:
no LCR test because it doesn't have protection against charged caps and I didn't want to possibly damage it. Will update later
2.6R on the ESR (out of spec!)
