This systematic review was published online within the last month and hasn’t generated any discussion on Reddit yet. I thought it would be useful to produce some commentary as this will obviously be a contentious issue over the next few decades. I’m aware of the great deal of positive anecdotal evidence on Reddit and other forums were many users report quitting smoking via the use of e-ciggarettes and seeing dramatic respiratory improvement (even among those suffering from asthma and COPD).
The meta-analysis concludes, through the employment of over 20 studies, that “Epidemiological studies show a relationship of e-cigarette use with asthma and COPD, and laboratory studies show their adverse effects on four biological processes.”
