So a new B&M opened up in my town last week, and I paid it a visit today. I won't be going back, and here's why:
Finish the renovations BEFORE you open your doors to the public. Potential customers don't want to see bare wall studs and electrical wires hanging from holes in the ceiling.
If you want to sell "tobacco use only" merchandise as well as vaporizers, that's your choice. But it's not a good idea to have 2 four foot tall bongs right inside the front door.
Following up on that idea, it would be a good idea to clearly separate your merchandise. Do you really want to display your Nautilus tanks mixed in with blunt wraps in ALL your display cases?
I understand that a B&M will have higher prices than an online store. That's a given. But try to keep your prices in the range of reality.
$6 for a ziplock baggie containing 10-15 cotton balls with the words "Vaper cotton" written on it in Sharpie marker.
$35 for an ego-style 650 mAh battery
$68 for an iStick 30
$135 for an iStick 50
$11 for Aspire ET-S tanks
$65 for the previously mentioned Nautilus tanks
$35 for Vivi Nova Mini tanks
$12 EACH for Aspire BVC coils (yes, I asked to make sure)
Finally, try to have SOME connection with the vaping community. When asked what you recommend, don't say "Oh, we don't use any of this stuff, we smoke."
