...are my local B&M's full of idiots?

There are 3 B&M's in my local area. Over the last few days I've talked with reps at all 3 about a planned purchase for my wife's birthday: an eLeaf iStick and an Aspire K1.

2 of them claimed to not know what the K1 is, and all 3 said that the only tank/clearomizer that would fit the iStick is the Nautilus.

Additionally, all 3 said that the iStick is a bad choice, citing poor build quality (among other things) as well as immediately trying to sell me on their own in-house mechanical mods.

So am I really making a bad choice here after doing several days of research (wife isn't looking for large clouds, just decent flavor and extended battery life), or are my B&M salespeople just trying to "upsell" (read: screw me over) me?
