So, after seeing it posted here a few weeks ago, I decided to pick up an HC atomizer.
This is a kayfun-style atomizer, but it's definitely not a clone
Specs (from vapenw's shop page, the only place I could find one):
Type: Rebuildable Atomizer (RBA) Connection: 510 Connector Material: Stainless Steel and Glass Capacity: 4.5ml Diameter: 22mm Dual Airholes Polished Finish
First off, this is definitely going to be first impressions. This could easily support either a single coil or dual coils. It has post holes in the negative and positive blocks for dual coils, and you can build on the screws (like a normal kayfun) with a single coil.
First impressions:
Buildability:
Pretty decent, much better if you have experience with kayfun building. The post holes are big enough that you could fit 2 28ga coils on here, and you could fit whatever by building on the screws.
There are two post holes - one on the positive post, and one on the negative post. They're tiny, but like I said, big enough for dual 28ga coils. There's enough space for a decent size coil on each side, but I don't know if there's room for dual coils above 1 ohm without resorting to 32 gauge or higher. It could work, but it would be tight and hard to keep the wires away from the chimney or the blocks.
I'll be doing dual coils on a mech later before I do a full review.
Airflow:
Oh my god, this gets better airflow than some of my drippers. My biggest gripe here is that it's hard for me to close the airholes enough to do mouth/lung inhales, which is what I expect to do on a tank. It doesn't help that the included drip tip has a wide bore, again comparable to what I use on a dripper.
Use caution when adjusting the airflow, because it's very easy to get way too much.
Flavor:
I'll come back to this one when I do the full review. Right now, I'm getting okay flavour, but that could be because I was stupid enough to use an untested new juice recipe in here. I'll fill it up with the same juice that's in my kayfun right now, and try again after a bit. It could also just be the fresh rayon taste, which takes a while to get out.
Accessories/Packaging:
The packaging wastes no space. There's exactly enough room for the tank, the drip tip, and the included wick/wire/spare hardware. It also includes a nice little multitool, with philips head screwdriver, slot head screwdriver, and an allen lock. The sizes are perfect for anything on the atomizer.
Look:
This is my gripe with the HC - It could look very nice, but it doesn't. They decided to put a big "H C" on the sleeve. It still looks nice, but it brings to mind horribly douchey clothing that has to have a gigantic logo on it somewhere.
That said, the polish is very nice, the included drip tip looks great on the atomizer, and it's a very well built piece of equipment.
Other stuff:
So far, I am having none of the gurgling/leaking problems that plague the kayfun.
Conclusion:
Based on what I've seen so far, I would recommend this atomizer, especially since it can be picked up for ~$42 (cost plus shipping, for me).
What I have to do before I make a full review:
I am going to subohm this, and see how the increased airflow works with higher power. I'm going to do this with a juice that I've been making a while and know inside and out, so I can give a better idea of how this atomizer handles flavor.
I'm also going to give it a bath. I was excited to see this in my mailbox, and forgot to do that. My bad.
