I told myself I'll make a goal of mine to save up and be ready to buy an EV6 in about 8 months to a year realistically
So I said, "I've heard EVs have long wait times, I should call them today and tell them"
The man at the dealership told me the current wait for EV6s ordered today is 2.5-3 years all across Canada in a memo the head office sent them recently.
He told me don't bother doing the build your own online because I will be getting the model year of 2-3 years from now and much can / will change
He told me the new orders they're taking, they're just accepting the trim selection and you'd get the equivalent of that in 2.5-3 years.
I'm guessing / hoping this is an under promise over deliver situation and maybe the real wait will be 1.5 years or so, so I will still "get in line" and still save the money with the realistic goal that it may be ready in 8 months to a year and then see where I'm at at that time and see where Kia is at with their EVs.
I had said that Hyundai and Kia were ahead of the game in a post around Feb of this year, I did not realize how insane the wait is for every EV right now.
I think someone recently posted that a new North American Hyundai or Kia factory (I forget) for EVs was just expedited by a factor of 6 months sooner, so really, if any company selling anything has a "we have people in line ready to buy but we can't make them fast enough for literally 2.5 years" there's gonna be some expeditions some how some way.
So I'm not super worried but also order the EV you want in a year today.
