So last night I turned on one of my lights by the switch and it popped and I saw an ember like spark, I quickly turned the switch off and panicked. I checked the breaker, but it did not tripped anything there, so I put a tape on the switch so that no one can flip it on in case. After reading and searching around google, I tried to see if its only the bulb, same thing happened, a pop and a spark. I tried the bulb on a different socket that is known to work, to my surprise the bulb works like nothing happened.
What could be the culprit and why? Also, is it safe to turn everything off in the breaker except the main one since I cant read the diagram because the writing on the sticker faded? Do I need to call an electrician or it is safe for an average joe like me to change the fixture given that I turn off everything in the breaker? As much as possible I dont want to call a professional if its easy enough to do it since money is tight right now.
Thank you all
