(Australian) New installation Earthing
Post Body

G'day,

Just a question for those familiar with testing and energising.

I'm confident in testing and getting my results though am at a loss at the moment for how I should interpret. I'm only a year out of my time, though have done testing and signed off on larger cable installations before I've been dreading the occasion of what I'm doing currently, testing smaller 2.5mm 2c E.

Doing lighting on a new mine process plant, following a designed cable schedule. Of course the lighting circuits are 2.5mm, though have long cable routes which bring the resistance up.

The total earth resistance is higher than what I'm 'expecting' as per table 8.1 in the wiring rules.

It's been suggested that as long as the RCD trips (zloop is passed) then the dead resistance isn't too much of a worry.

What's your outlook on this?

Just for reference as well, 11pt light circuit with total earth resistance of 1.2 ohms, whereas I'm expecting a max of 0.61 ohms.

Thanks
