Dimmer and Watt Question
Post Body

I have been installing dimmers and decorator toggles around my house as a wife-inspired project and everything has been going fine until I put one in out master bathroom. When the slide is anything but at 100% or 0%, it starts to grow hot and if you listen carefully, you can hear a humming noise.

Last night I researched what could cause this and it seems that my dimmer is rated for 600-watts, which is the same as the 10 60-watt lights that it controls. I'm a bit uncomfortable hitting right on that limit, so I'm looking for a new dimmer.

What would you suggest? I've found a Lutron and a Leviton rated for 1000-watts, but would that be enough? Is there another option that being a layman I wouldn't know about?

Thanks!
