Too close for comfort?....
Post Body

TLDR Don't try to beat up your customer, go to jail, get criminal charges, and a lawsuit over some disagreements.

This is at a rough inspection for a new custom home.

If you look at the pictures, the romex was installed just in front of the stove pipe and a few inches away, along with the outlet box not much further. This is a woodburning stove, not gas/propane.

So, the homeowner was on site for the inspection, and I guess both the electrical contractor and himself did not see eye to eye on much of anything.

The electrician was subbed out by the builder, and he said that they have been going round and round with change orders, complaints, the typical "new build" crap and were in each others face the prior day screaming at each other and ready to throw down, several times.

Well, it finally boiled over. It's been a long time since I seen 2 grown men literally beat the shit out of each other...

The homeowner accused the electrician that he was purposely trying to burn his new $750,000 house down and was just "hoping he didn't get caught".

Before I knew it, the electrician just sucker punched the homeowner in the face and the dude went down like a wet noodle, lol 😅

But, this guy popped right back up like a champ, before the 10 count, lol, and they went right back at it. The electrician again popped him right square in the forehead, and "Rocky Balboa" went down, again. Sure as shit, he got back up.

The dude was like the *"Terminator"....

They started wrestling around and right out of nowhere, the homeowner kneed the electrician right in the nose as he was getting up. That was it. Fighting portion was over.

During the MMA match, the HVAC contractor had called the po-po when things started to pop off. Being a small town with bored cops looking for anything to do then sitting at the only gas station, they were there pretty fast.

Both of them got hauled off in handcuffs with a bunch of new charges against one other and were still arguing and screaming as they were being taken away (in separate cars of course).

Well, as you could imagine, the electrical contractor has been fired and the homeowner has started a lawsuit against him for a a bunch of different issues, on top of the criminal charges they both now have. What a mess.

With that being said, here's a couple of questions for you....

1- Would you be okay with leaving the romex where it's at or would you install it differently?

2- Is this a code violation?

3- Have you ever legit wanted to punch a customer?

Let me know in the comments.

Be good 👍

I did not install this and attempt to beat the homeowners head in. I did the inspection.

These pics are from completed inspections.

I am not asking for help to decide on what to do, I have already made my decision.

The questions are just for friendly conversation and your professional opinion.
