For reference I'm a 19 year old union inside wire man apprentice. I plan on going through my five year apprenticeship and as soon as I can I would like to become solely a maintenance electrician. I enjoy my job as a inside wire man and the pay is nice even as an apprentice, but I also do not want the long term side effects of being a construction electrician. These being the wear and tear it has on your body or even something more serious like silicosis. Also I do find motors and controls, plcs, switches, and actually working with electricity to be a lot more interesting.
