Been playing since day one but have never really crafted

I have been playing since day one. I love this game and still play it a lot, however I have never gotten into crafting. I do the simple starter quests, but have never gone farther than that. Am I missing anything by not crafting? It’s just very confusing to me I am not sure what I am doing. I would never call myself an expert at the game, my highest character is only 215, but I do love the game. Should I be crafting? Or am I fine just skipping it?
