Miquella is potentiality
Post Body

As much as it pains me that we do not get an option to side with Miquella or change things, I think his story is perfect this way.

Miquella’s curse is eternal potentiality but not actuality. It’s sweetness but not truth. It’s starting and never finishing - golden order fundamentalism, unalloyed gold, the haligtree, st Trina’s succour, love that is charmed but not quite real. Perhaps St. Trina is right to ask us to forgive him, forgive his abandonment, and help him rest. Outside of the DLC, Malenia still believes he will keep his promise and return. But a part of him, Trina, knows better. For Miquella is abandonment and yearning, an “almost” - the most sad and painful of all things. Almost a sanctuary. Almost a tree. Almost love. Almost a promise. Almost an age. Almost a chance.

And so, in your hands, your inventory, his circlet, the last remnant of that which almost was…,already has begun to disappear.
