needle phobia, thinking about quitting injections
Post Body

I've got a real severe needle phobia. Vasovagal response, passing out, nausea, panic attacks, the whole deal. I just did my first night of injections (got some friends to do it) last night and it was sufficiently bad that I'm not sure I can continue?

My phobia is triggered by pain that I associate with needles. I know it's not rational, but my body has really strong response. The menopur burned - and I don't mind burning itself, but the pain triggered my phobia. I had trouble falling asleep that night due to the panic.

I used topical lidocane and iced the area (stomach) quite a lot before the injection (which usually eliminates pain for needles and makes it tolerable), but the menopur pain was so, so bad. It was shockingly bad. I yelled and cried. I had no idea injections were going to hurt so much.

I talked to the nurse on site and was like "Idk if I can do this, I am considering quitting, what do you usually do to help people with phobias this bad" and she had basically nothing to recommend. She was like "use ice."

I'm kinda panicking. I already paid so much money and I wanted to do this and I'm afraid I won't be able to pull it off. What do people with severe phobias do??? Do they just not freeze eggs?
