The History of GPW
Post Body

GLOBAL POWER WRESTLING (GPW) has a rich and storied history that spans over two decades. Founded in 1994 in Brainerd, Minnesota, GPW began as a pen and paper wrestling e-federation, created by a group of passionate wrestling fans. Initially, the promotion was a small, grassroots operation, with a dedicated following of fans who shared a love for professional wrestling.

In the early days, GPW was fueled by imagination and creativity, with storylines and matches played out on paper and shared among the community. However, as technology advanced, GPW began to evolve. In 1999, the first hints of GPW were built in the video game WWE Smackdown 2 on the PlayStation 1 console. This marked a significant turning point for the promotion, as it allowed for more immersive and interactive storytelling.

By 2014, GPW had established its first set of stars, dubbed the "Mount Rushmore of GPW" by founder Samuel Knight. This inaugural class consisted of Bubba Electric, Kimmie Electric, Doug Quantum, Raine Bow, Ox Brody, Amber Kassidy, JD Lee, and Night Mother Reaper. These talented individuals would go on to shape the future of GPW and cement its place in the world of professional wrestling.

In 2016, GPW made the leap to a full digital e-fed, utilizing advanced software and graphics to bring the promotion to life. This transition marked a new era for GPW, as it allowed for more detailed and realistic storylines, as well as increased fan engagement.

By 2021, GPW had made the transition to the Twitch platform, where it continues to thrive to this day. With a dedicated community of fans and a talented roster of wrestlers, GPW remains one of the premier professional wrestling promotions in the world.
