Moving Drum kit concern

Hi I’m a very new drummer and I’m really excited to get my first kit. It’s coming Friday and I’ll be bringing it back to college with me. It’s the Alesis nitro max and after talking with my dad he wants to assemble it at home and fold it up for transport with everything attached. I suggest we just leave it in the box and assemble it there. Do you think the kit will be safe folded up on my trunk or should I try to convince him to leave it all in until we get to college.
