Different sound build ups/drop

What do you guys do when you feel you’ve overused sounds leading up to the drop?
Consistently I seem to want to use 20-25 sounds per song leading up to the drop, then I narrow it down to like 4/5 different versions that sound great pre drop.
Do you just ask friends what they think the best lead up versions are, and maybe try to finish 2 as different songs?
I know I can’t be the only one that does this, right? 😂
