As i undertsand hard clip is more transparent and soft clip adds saturation/more distortion.
We always hear about soft clipping the master before limiter. but why not hard clip ? on my mastering chain i would want my clipping as transparent as it can be since i added all the saturation i wanted before the final clipper on the mastering chain.
But i would use a soft clipper on a drum bus to add saturation.
But what i hear often is the other way around soft clipper on the master and hard clipper on elements. why ?
thnaks !!!
