Night and day difference when I export to audio. How important is right speakers/headset?

Post Body

I’m new to producing and have generally struggled with my music sounding good. I’m using a pair of pretty shitty/cheap desktop speakers. Haven’t really felt the bass at all.

Today, for the first time, I exported my audio and sent it to my phone. I listened to it with my AirPods and was blown away by how good the bass and overall audio sounded. Gave me a lot of motivation.

With that, can I expect equal or better sound if I put some money into a good headset? I know headsets have limitations in terms of sub bass, but my AirPods far outdid the cheap subwoofer I have. Any recommendations on headset? I see some people recommending beyerdynamic.

Finally, is there something that happens audio-wise when exporting vs listening to it in the DAW (ableton)?
