Lamplighter Reviews - Wotofo Flow Sub Tank
Post Body

Hey People!

The fine folks over at Wotofo sent along the new Flow Subohm Tank for me to review. I received it just over a week ago and so far I have been pretty impressed. Now, I am a rebuildables guy at heart, I rarely use tanks with disposable coils but I do like having some in the collection for when the special occasion calls for it. I find with disposable coil tanks, the airflow and performance is so restricted. There isn't much wiggle room when a certain coil does not perform the way you prefer. Either way, setting my preferences aside, the performance from the Flow tank has actually been more than enjoyable. So let's take a look at what the Flow has to offer. The mechanics of this tank are fairly simply so this will likely turn out to be a bit shorter of a review than usual but as always I will cover everything!

Packaging

For the first time since I have been doing reviews for Wotofo, their packaging for the Flow tank is much different than any other product I have received. Instead of the normal decorated gift box, this one is much thinner is basically just has a flap on top that you open up. The box still has images of the tank and some nice designs but the box it's self is entirely different. Inside the box the tank is sitting in a foam cutout with a very thick user manual on top. The manual covers just about every language. Also sitting in the cutout is the spare glass and spare coil. Lift the foam cut-out out and underneath is the spares bag. Even with the packaging change, the box is well designed and is certainly eye catching.

First Impressions

I've come to expect a great product from Wotofo and the Flow tank,to no surprise, meets those expectations. The tank feels nicely weighted in the hand, giving a well made feel.Unthreading all threaded components and the operation is quite smooth, after inspecting the threads there does not appear to be any skips or burrs left over. There is a slight smell of machine oil, which I fixed with a quick wash. The outside of the chamber has some really nice engravings. The word FLOW is engraved across the top as well as FLOW is all blended together in some sort of logo.Airflow opens full air to close smoothly. The 510 connection on this tank is actually silver plated rather than the trending gold plated. When I first opened the box to look at the tank there was a little rubber stopper of sorts inside of the tank, which is used to reduce the capacity of the tank as per TPD requirements. This is the first I have seen of this from any vendor out there. I am sure others are doing it,I just have not seen it. The top cap has little indentations all around the tank which adds a nice asethetic appeal. Overall, as usual,Wotofo has done a great job designing this tank both for quality, functonality and looks.

Finer Details

The Flow tank is 24mm in diameter and stands at 40mm in height. The tank fits into the same low profile style tanks that Wotofo has been releasing in the last little while. The tank will hold 4ml of eliquid or 2ml(TPD Compliance) with the included capacity reducer. Overall, the tank is pretty basic in terms of operation. Prime your coils and go. Underneath the top cap is two kidney shaped fill ports that can accommodate a dropper point no problem. Performance wise, the Flow tank caught me off guard. I didn't expect to get the mix of flavor and vapor production that I did. I primed the coil and fought through the horrid new cotton taste that the coils gave off. Once I got through about 3/4 of the tank, it was gone. The flavor that I get from the Flow tank is pretty impressive. Thinking back to the other sub ohm tanks I have tried over the last while, this one is by far the best for flavor. The vapor production is also more than enough to satisfy any DTL vaper. I can toss out some pretty large clouds with this little tank. Perhaps it's no surprise considering that it also works with the Baby Beast coils and that little tank can toss some big clouds as well. The price difference between the Wotofo Coils and the Baby Beast coils is around 3-5 dollars, the Wotofo coils being cheaper. It looks like right now the baby beast coils are much more readily available. I was able to drain this tank out pretty quickly, running it at between 50-60 watts. On the lower end of the wattage recommendation there was some gurgling and spitting going on so Id recommend keeping it a few watts above the lowest recommended setting to avoid this issue.

The Coils

The coils that come with the tank in the box are a 0.25ohm resistance pre made coil. There is no indication anywhere as to what material the wire is. I have noticed many companies lately that do not indicate wire material on their coils at all. Some potential buyers may not like that if they are TC users as there is no way of telling if this wire is TC applicable. The very top of of the coil has a little screen there to reduce spit back through the drip tip. Like I said before I still got a little spitting but it wasn't too much so perhaps this little screen is doing it's job. All around the outside of the coil on 4 opposing sides are 3 little holes for wicking. The coils has no problem keeping up with my chain vaping at all. Like I said above, the Flow tank will take Baby Beat coils as well but they will cost you more compared to the Wotofo coils.

Final Conclusion

This is easily my favorite sub tank that I have in my collection. A couple come close but the flavor and vapor mix that I get off this tank is fantastic. The design is top notch and appearance is right there as well. I will definitely be placing an order for more coils for this little beast so that I can use it when the occasion calls for it. Minor details, I don't care for the little indentations on the top of the cap, they collect a lot of dust and dirt and some moisture can sit in there as well, making a mess of the thing and than it needs to be cleaned. No a huge deal but noteworthy. Overall, the Flow tank will suit and vapers needs,I like that the coils work on a much lower power setting than I am used to but still provide a nice warm vape. As always, I am looking forward to see what Wotofo has coming next!

Thanks everyone for stopping by to read what I had to say on the Flow tank. Sorry it coudn't be longer but I covered all the necessary talking points, I think so anyway. Stay tuned for a review of my new all time favorite RTA from Smoant coming later this week!
