Below is a summary of a half dozen hours of research on brain buckets with citations
Did you know the regular safety standard for bike helmets in America are all-but-useless for any riding > 15 mph, or riding in dangerous areas like urban streets or woodland trails. BUT THERE'S BETTER!
Look for these standards next time you buy a brain bucket:
1) GREAT: NTA 8776 - https://www.bike-eu.com/.../standard-for-speed-e-bike...
2) GREAT: ASTM F1952 https://helmets.org/ebike.htm (bottom of article)
3) GOOD: EN 1078 (more real-world aligned, testing how helmets perform in actual crash scenarios, not just dropping flat anvils from X feet and saying 'that's like a crash')
4) BETTER THAN NOTHING: American CPSC/CSC or the lower ASTM (NOT the F1952 which is great, but the lower 1,000 series)
BONUS - MIPS? That's like chocolate dip for your ice cream, it's great and you should get it, but it's something you add to other standards, like EN-1078 MIPS.
