If anyone has Dt 545d’s and a caliper tool, would you mind measuring the eyelet opening for me?
In a string of bad luck, I cracked my brand new hub motor rim on my third trip out a couple of weeks ago. I don’t know if you’ve tried to find a 36h 29” or 700c wheel lately, but I’ve been having quite the experience here. Two retailers refunded me already because they didn’t properly keep an eye on their stock.
Now I finally found an awesome retailer (Planet Cyclery, out of CO.) to provide me with a decent rim rated for ebikes, a dt Swiss 545d. I was wondering if anyone had laced 12g spokes in one successfully? It has eyelets, so I think drilling to fit is out of question.
And I’ve read it a thousand times before “why run 12g? switch to 14g!” Honestly, I’m sick of spending money, and these spokes have three rides on them. I’d prefer to get some use out of them, but I’ll buy 13g or 14g if I have to.
Ideally, I just want to be prepared to lace when the rim arrives. I’m trying to eliminate any more variable for delay, the weather has been beautiful out here in SoCal.
Cheers!
