Post Body

Hey all! I’m a lifelong cyclist (and never car driver; I don’t know how to drive/don’t have a license) who has been dreaming of these Vespa-esque ebikes for years. I live somewhere with lots of steep hills and so cycling has become a little untenable.

I’m curious what questions you experienced folks would suggest I ask to the shops I inquire at.

I really love this model, and was quoted $1800 CAD for it, which feels extremely reasonable. The shopkeeper told me it would run pretty much all seasons, but to avoid snow/ice; he also said the battery would last less long in colder months, and that it’s fine to store them either in a garage or on the street with a covering. I asked about the exploding batteries and he said that only happens with Lithium batteries, and that this one has a “safe” battery. He also said this one should run about 50km without needing a recharge, and that it can be charged overnight (6-8 hours).

I’ve done some research but it’s still mainly Greek to me and I don’t know what I don’t know, so I would love someone more experienced to let me know if this sounds about right, and what I’m missing.

What questions should I be asking? What do a lot of newbies totally not know, that I should be aware of? Does what he told me about this bike sound about right?

Thank you so much! I appreciate your help in advance!
