Controller hookup question

Helping a friend with his razor mod. 3000w motor kit included throttle and keyed ignition. Ignition has 2 separate wires. Red into a 2 plug and black into a separate 2plug. Controller has an elock 2 plug with a single red wire. I assume this should be for the red ignition wire, do I just snip the black and hijack it into another plugs ground?
