Hi all,
Yesterday we were privileged to have been selected as a trending subreddit on reddit! This spotlight brought an influx of new users into our community and an increase in activity that is bringing in a nice stream of tasty, new recipes!
While this event has been overwhelmingly positive for our community, it hasn't been without its drawbacks. While they've already popped up from time-to-time, we've noticed a spike in what I've dubbed "inauthentic content." These are low-effort recipes like instructions on how to make a package of instant ramen or how to make a bowl of cereal. For this reason we have implemented a sixth rule:
Be authentic; keep contributions meaningful
Recipes come in all shapes and sizes and while r/easyrecipes is intended for, well, easy recipes, there are some instances when a recipe might be too easy. Our goal is to foster a community that serves up authentic content that is meaningful for our users. While this is an awfully subjective rule, which will be enforced as such, some examples of "inauthentic" or "low-effort" recipes include things like: How to make cereal; how to make instant ramen; etc.
Please use this thread to pose any questions you may have about this rule and we'll be happy to address them or to clarify any concerns.
