Repro, GBA or Virtual Console (N3DS) Earthbound?

So I've been long waiting get into the Mother series, and even though I've been wanting to play mother 1 first than Earthbound, being new to the series ive been recommended to play mother 2 first. I bought a new 3ds just to play Earthbound, but i like to try games on their original consoles to feel how it was meant to be played. But since its price is way high up, i could only buy a reproduction... So the question is, should i get it repro (my first repro game), get it for virtual console or do i buy the whole series for gba (where if im not wrong Earthbound isnt fully translated)?
