Is it worth paying $400 for a Razer Core X + RX 5700 XT?

I've done the research on doing my own eGPU setup, but it honestly seems a bit beyond me, and I'm resorting to just buying a used eGPU GPU combo so it can be plug n' play. I just missed out on purchasing this exact combo, except with an XFX 5700 XT, for $306. So, is this worth paying $400 for? I ask because the other options are GTX 1070s, 1050s, RX 580s, and Vega 56s which are cheaper, but I'd like to run VR games off of this setup or maybe even the notoriously difficult to run Star Citizen .
