I have a dell 9575 laptop. And it runs pretty well. It's my daily driver that I use for almost anything and everything. It's currently connected to a thunderbolt dock that houses:
- 2 monitor connections (1 4k and 1 1080p monitor)
- 1 USB Webcam
- 1 Mouse & 1 keyboard
I also do have a gaming pc. That, in all honesty, I hardly ever use. I don't often touch it. It's big, it's beautiful... and it hardly gets used.
But I'm usually always on my laptop. All of my work tools are installed on it. If I have to do something, it's on this laptop.
So I'm really wondering if an eGPU is worth purchasing for my use case.
- I don't play games often. But when I do I like playing at 4k.
- I am getting into VR slowly. And am interested in connecting a Rift-S to this.
- I do very minor 3d modeling.
- I'm mostly in IT (if that helps).
I'm just questioning the value of a desktop computer I almost never use :( Really... this is kinda becoming a Dark Souls / Elden Ring machine.
