Just thought I’d post this because I myself have struggled a lot getting past the code 12 in bootcamp with a 5700 XT
I have literally tried everything under the sun at one point and had nothing work for a long time. Here is my current setup for reference;
2019 base model MacBook Pro 8257u 2x TB3 ports 8Gb 2133 DDR3
Razer core X Gigabyte RX570 4GB PowerColor 5700XT Red Devil
So previously I’ve managed to get the RX570 work in bootcamp with no additional work except the laptop screen won’t work it would only project to an external monitor, but honestly that’s what I preferred. But when I swapped it out for the 5700XT, it didn’t end up working.
I tried older versions of windows, DDUs, lowering the security on boot, you name it. Didn’t work.
What actually worked; Using the latest version of windows 10 (2004) and latest AMD drivers.
Before booting, head over to recovery mode and open terminal and enter the following command line:
csrutil disable
Hit enter and make sure you secure boot is on low and allow booting from external drives. Reboot into MacOS for changes to take effect. Then reboot into windows as normal (I used an external SSD with bootcamp). Once in windows, plug in the eGPU let it initialisé and then reboot with the eGPU plugged in and it should work to an external monitor only. The windows logo will spaz out a bit, don’t worry just close the lid, it should land you into windows on an external monitor.
I don’t know if I just got lucky, but this is exactly what I did step by step, I hope it works for y’all aswell. :)
If someone is having trouble and tries this out, let me know if it works or not, any constructive feedback is great!
